Danish Business Women in Dubai – DBWD

The Network is established under the Danish Business Council with the following guidelines

                                               

1.       The Network will be of a nature so that women of all nationalities may apply for membership

2.       Membership of the Danish Business Council will not be a condition for membership of The Network.

3.       The Network will work independently of the Danish Business Council, and as such will not be eligible for arrangements (workshops, social functions etc) organized by The Danish Business Council, but will, against payment, be able to take part in these.

4.       The Network is committed to maintaining ethical and moral values in order not to discredit  Danish Business in general, and the Danish Consulate in particular, with the United Arab Emirates

5.       There are no set agreements regarding financial assistance from the Danish Business Council to The Network, including use of any resources of the Danish Business Council.

 

DBWD - purpose

1.       to create growth for its members through personal networks.

2.       to create a network for exchange of information and experiences between active business women in Dubai.

3.       to create more awareness about Danish business women in Dubai

4.       to exchange knowledge about business in Dubai which can improve members’ financial return and enhance confidence.

 

DBWD - membership

 

All women, regardless of nationality, may apply for membership of DBWD provided the following criteria are met

1.       They have business relations to Denmark or Danes in Dubai, and

2.       They have own business with activities in Dubai, or

3.       They are employed in an executive capacity in a company with business activities in Dubai, or

4.       They are in the process of establishing own company, and can show a business plan including the implementation of the business.

 

Membership – fees/terms

1.       All members pay an annual fee of AED 500 plus AED 100 per meeting. Nonmembers pay AED 200 per meeting  

2.       Membership is valid for one year at a time

3.       Membership is renewed on every September 1st

 

 

Ethical rules

 

1.       All members of DBWD are bound to respect local ethical rules and moral values, particularly when speaking publicly.

2.       Members may not speak on behalf of BDWD unless this is expressly agreed beforehand.

3.       Unless otherwise agreed, everything which happens during meetings is strictly confidential.

4.       In case there is one participant which does not speak Danish/Scandinavian, the meeting is conducted (by all) in English.

5.       All members are committed to contributing towards a positive spirit at meetings/arrangements.

 

Meetings

 

·         For the remainder of 2008, it has been agreed to have a meeting once a month, after which frequency of meetings will be evaluated.

·         As a general rule, the meetings are closed – i.e. for members, potential members and invitees only.

·         Meetings are held at The Montgomerie –

·         Refreshments (coffee, tea, water, sandwiches) will be served – at a cost of approx AED 50/- per person.

·         Meetings are from 1930 to 2200 hours

 

Constitution

 

An executive committee consisting of 5 members will be created, with authority to and responsibility for:

 

1.       Accepting new members

2.       Economy/Finance

3.       Arranging of meetings

4.       Planning of the years’ meetings (max 10)

5.       Delegating of tasks

6.       Sending of invitations and minutes of meetings

 

The executive committee will appoint a chairperson who shall ensure that the areas of responsibility within the committee have the required impetus.  It is envisaged that the committee will have a flat structure and whose main purpose is to fulfill the very idea behind DBWD and with the individual area of responsibility to be assigned as required.

 

Topics of meetings could be

 

1.       Presentation of members’ companies

2.       Speakers with topics focusing on women in business

3.       Speakers focusing on topics related to running a business
